Photoshop features you should know

Cropping

Cropping is one of the most common tools in Photoshop and plays an essential role in photo editing. Cropping is a useful tool since it helps you prepare a picture for uploading on the internet or printing by adjusting the size of the image and eliminating any unneeded empty regions from the image. You can also store presets for multiple sizes and resolutions, allowing you to crop photographs for a variety of different purposes without having to start from scratch.

Patch tool

The patch tool replaces an item by copying a texture from another region of the picture and blending the new surface’s colour and tone with the original.

You have first to choose the item you want to delete by drawing a circle around it, then click and hold in the selected area while dragging your mouse to the section of the picture you want to sample from the selection.

Levels

The levels tool enables you to change the strength of shadows, highlights, and mid-tones in a picture. A histogram is shown while modifying an image’s levels. You can go to Image > Adjustments > Levels to see it. It depicts the image’s dark and bright tones. The left side of your histogram indicates deeper tones in your photograph, while the right side represents brighter tones.

Spot healing tool

The spot healing tool uses a brush that paints over an item with texture and tone automatically sampled from the surrounding pixels. It is most suited for minor repairs such as dust removal and other specifications.

Exposure

Exposure correction corrects the tonal values or luminance of HDR photos. You may go to Images > Adjustments > Exposure to see this. Keep in mind that you can alter three settings: exposure, offset and gamma.

Clone stamp tool

The clone stamp tool duplicates the colour as well as the texture. Most people often use it for more complex changes, like when they need to reconstruct portions of a photograph that have been lost.

Vibrance

With the Vibrance tool, you can intensify colours in your picture. However, it does not affect skin tones that are orange and yellow. In addition,  it saturates the skin tone without making it unnatural. If you want to remove the colour from a picture, use saturation to eliminate it from hues and add colour using vibrance.

Sharpening

The sharpening tool sharpens a picture by touching up all the lines and boosting their contrast, making the image’s minor details pop. Most editing software features an “Auto Sharpen” function to save time. Just keep in mind that there is a delicate line between sharpened and over-sharpened effects when editing images.

Text tool

Various fonts, colours, and size choices are available when using the tool to add text to images. If you want to add more aspects to your picture, you may distort and warp text. You can press the letter T on your keyboard to utilise the text tool or pick it from the toolbar.

Shape tool

Using the shape tool, you can utilise simple forms like a triangle, rectangle, circle, line, or polygon. The shape’s size, colours, and other attributes may then be changed. Choose from the toolbar or hit the letter U on your keyboard to utilise this feature.

Pen tool

The pen tool allows you to create a path or selection around an item. You can press P on your keyboard to use the pen feature or pick it from the toolbar. After selecting an item, mouse around it to establish anchor points.

Object selection tool

To swiftly choose an item from a scene, you can utilise the object selection tool. The object may then be edited independently, or the picture can be deleted entirely. To use it, either click the object selection tool or press W on your keyboard.
